Budget Cuts

Ok-lately I have been quiet about politics and budget cuts because I try to avoid conflict and also I'm so tired of talking and hearing about it. Not tonight. The state (governor) has decided that qualifying disabled children from birth to 3 years of age no longer need to receive any therapy services such as speech, occupational, physical and feeding. As of March 1st and parents were notified this week that there services will be cut. It is so sad to hear this news. If anyone has a child we receives therapy services rather at home or in school and yes school therapies will be affected as well then know how beneficial these services are. If you don't have a child but know someone who is close to with a disability and benefit from therapy services then you should know what it is like, if you don't I urge you to discuss this. Kids with disabilities have a hard time learning certain movements and task that you and learn naturally and take for granted everyday. I have also heard that some state representatives have said things like these kids really don't need these services because in the future they are not going to benefit society. There have been huge rallies help at the capital over this issue and other issues. Not only does this cut affect children but it also affects jobs, yes more people will lose their jobs or have a big reduction in pay. It also affects things such as foster care and cps care. If anyone who would like to help in fighting for the cause please let me know and I can get you the information. Also anyone reading this does not understand something or has a question please let me know. Ok that is my little political spill.

This weekend was busy. Dan and I worked in the garden and have everything done. We built, well ok he and his dad built 2 square foot box gardens but Michael and I painted them. We planted so many things and I can't wait for things to start growing. Mattie had fun playing outside and in the grass and dirt but did have a little mishap with the paint. David did his normal and that was sleep. On Saturday after Michael's soccer game, (who by the way scored 1 goal )we went to the dairy farm and got some manure. I never felt so welcome before in my life by a bunch of cows. As soon as I got out of the truck they all came over to the fence to watch. I even had a few who would let me touch them. Dan told me I was not allowed to bring one home due to zoning laws. Of course I remember my younger years growing up in Buckeye and raising a calf and having to bottle feed it. I have a 3 month old baby so I don't think a cow will fit in my schedule. Michael had tons of fun helping shovel the manure and just climbing the big manure hill like spiderman.

Go Devils...Go Devils....

My favorite news headline for the week: "ASU beats UofA by a 2 point margin". Go Devils! Sorry Dan that your team lost. Dan went to the game with Michael (who proudly wore his ASU shirt) and his dad. They had dinner at Ted's Hot Dogs. Michael ate a chili dog and at the game had popcorn, soda and a pretzel. Michael was so excited to go. They got home late so Michael went to bed with his ASU shirt on and the next day he did not want to take it off so I let him wear if for the day. What a true ASU fan!

Yea - my first posting. Tuesdays are my busy days. Mattie has 3 therapy appointments throughout the day and Michael has pre-school in the morning. Currently Mattie is with the Speech Therapist, David is sleeping (finally) and Michael is quietly playing. I told myself I would clean the kitchen while the speech therapist is here but I decided to create a blog. I also bought 12 pounds of apples last week when Frys had them on sale. I was going to make Apple sauce today but I just have not gotten around to it. Lately I've been trying to can but it is not working out and I don't know what I am doing wrong.
